What is energy deregulation?

Before the 1980s, consumers had one choice when it came to their energy supply: their local utility provider. Energy pricing was set by the government. Since the energy market became deregulated in the 80s, pricing is no longer government controlled, and consumers have been able to choose their energy supplier.

Are all states deregulated?

Not yet – but more and more states are joining the deregulation bandwagon every year. At present, the following states have deregulated energy markets: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

How do I know which energy supplier to choose?

That’s what Elixir Power Solutions is here for! We’ll narrow down your choices by providing you with a list of energy suppliers with the best prices and solid reputations.

If I change energy suppliers, where will my monthly bill come from?

You will still have/maintain your account with your local utility company. They will take care of billing and issues that may arise with your service – nothing will change other than who you are buying the energy from. In the event that you experience loss of power, you should contact your local utility company.

What differences can I expect when I switch energy suppliers?

This is the best part – you won’t notice any changes other than you’ll be spending less money on your energy bill!

Can I switch now even if I’m under a contract with a different supplier?

We can look into this for you, but you may have to finish out your contract before switching suppliers. However, Elixir Power offers new customers the ability to lock in a low energy rate now even if you’re currently under a different contract. This way, as soon as your contract expires, you’ll begin paying your locked-in, lower energy rate.
